The Feature Gates That Matter

The Start plan leaves out dispatch mapping and GPS check-ins. For a shop managing multiple trucks across different job sites, dispatching without a map view means a lot of manual coordination. Start is a solo or very small shop product.

Run at $149/month is where most working HVAC and plumbing shops land. It adds dispatch mapping, GPS job-site check-ins, custom reports, and supports up to 10 users.

One important distinction: Kickserv’s GPS check-ins record when a technician clocks in or out at a job site. This is different from real-time GPS fleet tracking. It doesn’t show you live truck locations on a dispatch map. If you need to see where your trucks are right now, you’d need a separate GPS solution on top of Kickserv.

QuickBooks Desktop: Extra $50/Month

Kickserv includes QuickBooks Online sync on all plans. QuickBooks Desktop is different — it’s available only on Run and Scale, and costs an extra $50/month on top of the base plan.

Payment processing fees apply if you collect payments through Kickserv: 2.9% + $0.30 for standard card swipes. On $10,000/month in processed jobs, that’s roughly $320/month in fees — a number worth factoring into total software cost, separate from the subscription.

Kickserv’s Kickback program offers a 5% discount when you process a minimum monthly volume through Kickserv Payments. Run plan users need $2,000/month. On a $149/month plan, 5% is about $7.50/month back. Real, but not a deciding factor.
